Teaching and Learning
The European Azerbaijan School (EAS) is composed of three school divisions:
• The Early Learning Centre (ELC) for 4 and 5 year-old students
• The Primary School for Grades 1-4
• The Secondary School for Grades 5-11
Curriculum programs used at each division are based on a purpose-designed curriculum model composed of the Azerbaijan National Curriculum and various International Curriculums, including the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) framework for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
Curriculums at all levels are organised by a subject area and balanced by a broad range of co-curricular opportunities. Our staff, composed of highly trained and experienced Azerbaijani and International Educators, delivers the curriculum through a wide variety of teaching techniques. These techniques utilize “best-practice” methods from years of educational research both locally and internationally. The EAS Curriculum offers students learning opportunities that will both challenge and excite them, while encouraging them to investigate the world around them and propose solutions that positively affect their community.
In addition to its Director and School Administrators, the EAS employs an Early Learning Centre Coordinator at the ELC level, a PYP Coordinator at the Primary level, a DP Coordinator at the Secondary Level and a Curriculum Coordinator school wide; all of these specialists work closely with classroom teachers to ensure curriculum is delivered to students at the highest standards. Our mission at the EAS is to prepare our students to flourish in the global economy and to empower them to contribute meaningfully to their community. With this goal in mind, we use the EAS Curriculum to lead and guide our daily teaching and learning.
